Category: ATM, Vendor: Cisco Devices

Description: Manages Cisco WAN AXIPOP protocol interface for MGX platform cell bus communications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB?

The CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB configures the AXIPOP ATM cell-bus interface processor on Cisco MGX ATM WAN switches, managing ATM addressing and network-prefix settings used for PNNI/ATM routing between switch cards. It exposes configuration/status data including ATM address table entries with their status, network-prefix entries with separate administrative and operational status, and card resource (LCN) partition settings. Its monitoring value lies in administrative-vs-operational status of ATM addressing entries, so a mismatch between admin and operational status for a network prefix reveals a PNNI adjacency or cell-bus connectivity problem rather than a simple misconfiguration. It is part of the broader Cisco MGX WAN switch MIB family and relies on ATM Forum NSAP-format addressing conventions. It is deployed on Cisco MGX 8000-series ATM WAN switches equipped with the AXIPOP processor card, and a CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB download is required to load the module into a MIB browser for ATM address monitoring.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco MGX 8000-series ATM WAN switches (AXIPOP processor card)

Monitoring Examples

An engineer checks atmAddressTable/atmAddressEntry for axisAtmAddressAtmAddress values and axisAtmAddressStatus to confirm configured ATM addresses are active on a given port, then cross-references atmNetPrefixTable's axisAtmNetPrefixAdminStatus against axisAtmNetPrefixOperStatus. A prefix showing admin-up but operationally down signals a PNNI adjacency or cell-bus connectivity fault on that MGX card.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM address configuration and status
  • network prefix administrative status
  • network prefix operational status
  • card resource/LCN partition settings
