This object identifies the logical port index for the port's state-related table entries, and on FRSM12 cards it is the ifIndex of the port's ifTable row encoded with chassis, slot, and port fields. An administrator uses it to map state and signaling data back to a specific physical port on the chassis. For example, when scripting a poll of port state across an entire MGX shelf, the engineer would decode this value to label each row with its physical location.
