Description: This variable contains the next unused channel number of the possible 248. This number can be used in channel config table. cesChanNumNextAvailable gets updated whenever this number is used to create a new logical channel. Value 0 for this variable indicates that no more channels are available. In CESM 8-port card), the maximum number of values for this variable is 248 (i.e. 32 ..279). Only applicable to CESM-8T1/E1/T3/E3.

What is cesmChanNumNextAvailable?

This read-only value reports the next unused channel number available for creating a new circuit-emulation channel, drawn from the pool of up to 248 possible channels (numbered 32 through 279) on CESM-8T1/E1/T3/E3 cards, updating automatically each time a returned number is consumed to create a channel, with 0 signaling that no channels remain available. An administrator provisioning a new channel reads this value first to know which channel number to use in the channel config table rather than guessing or scanning for a free slot. A persistent value of 0 indicates the card's channel capacity is fully exhausted and no new circuit-emulation channels can be added without first freeing existing ones.
