SNMP Monitoring for Your Network
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) lets you monitor almost any server, workstation, or network device.
SNMP monitoring is the industry standard for tracking network usage by observing the ports of routers and switches. A range of other metrics like disk capacity, CPU utilization and hardware temperature,
remaining toner in network printers can be gathered through SNMP monitoring. Our SNMP monitoring software enables you to configure alert thresholds for notifications via email, SMS, instant messenger, and other channels.
What You Can Monitor with SNMP
Using SNMP monitoring software, you can monitor any Unix/Linux servers, network hardware (which typically also runs a Unix-like system), and even Windows machines (which include an SNMP agent). SNMP monitoring also facilitates
performance testing and monitoring of various server applications (such as database and mail servers). IPNetwork Monitor allows you to
monitor any SNMP variable using any SNMP protocol version (v1/v2c/v3). You can choose which variable to track via the integrated
MIB browser, which displays all variables supported by the target device, along with their current values and descriptions (sourced from MIBs). IPNetwork Monitor includes over 100 commonly used MIBs to assist in setting up
SNMP server monitoring. You can also import device- and application- specific MIBs to monitor performance parameters specific to your servers, applications, and network devices using SNMP monitoring.
Monitor Hardware Resources via SNMP
Four predefined hardware resource monitors collect data via SNMP. You can observe various
CPU load characteristics, several
memory utilization metrics, monitor used and free
disk space on any file system, and track a variety of
process statistics for any SNMP-enabled device.
