An administrator monitors this to confirm DE-threshold-based shedding, rather than a hard queue overflow, is the specific cause of observed egress loss. For example, if egressQDEThresh is lowered on a channel and xmtFramesDiscXceedDEThresh subsequently rises, that confirms the new, tighter threshold is now being crossed by real egress traffic.
