This read-only object reports the current status of a BERT test running in the shelf, such as inactive, bertInSync (the test pattern is synchronized and measuring), bertOutOfSync (sync has been lost), or searchingDDSCommands (looking for DDS loopback codes). An admin monitoring an active line test would poll this status to know whether the test is currently producing valid error-rate data. Seeing bertOutOfSync would tell the admin the far-end loop or line condition has disrupted the test and results collected during that period should be disregarded.
