This read-only enumerated value reports whether a given port is configured as a Frame Relay port, a plain ATM port, or an IMA (aggregated multi-link) port. For example, seeing commonPortType report imaport tells the admin to also check the IMA-specific group and link tables for that port's true operational state, not just this generic table.
