This read-write value forms part of the remote end-point address for this connection together with cesRemoteVci and cesRemoteNSAP, and should be set to 0 specifically for a DACS (cross-connect) connection within an MGX shelf. An administrator configuring a standard ATM connection to a remote NSAP-addressed endpoint sets this to the actual remote VPI, but leaves it at 0 when the connection is instead a local time-slot cross-connect handled by DACS. For example, a CES channel cross-connected within the same MGX shelf via DACS would show cesRemoteVpi as 0 rather than a real ATM VPI value.
