An administrator sets this aside as a safety margin so PAR's connection routing will not fill the entire trunk, leaving headroom to absorb bursts from statistically multiplexed traffic. For example, setting parTrkStatReserve to 500 cells/sec on a 5000 cells/sec trunk keeps 10% of capacity out of reach of new connection admission even if the trunk otherwise looks fully bookable.
