pxmAtmVcCrossConnectHighAddressType

Module: CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB::pxmAtmVcCrossConnectHighAddressType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.5.2.16.11.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The value of this object identifies the address type of the interface associated with the VC cross-connect that is identified by pxmAtmVcCrossConnectHighIfIndex. If the address type is pxmAtmUni, the first 4 bits of the VPI field is the GFCI and the remaing 12 bits of the VPI field is the VPI. If the address type is pxmAtmNni, the whole 16 bits of the VPI is the VPI. If the address type is the frameRelay, the combination of the VPI field and the VCI field are the DLCI.

What is pxmAtmVcCrossConnectHighAddressType?

This read-only value identifies the address type, ATM UNI, ATM NNI, or Frame Relay, of the interface on the high side of this cross-connect, which determines how the 16-bit VPI field is interpreted; for example on a UNI interface the top 4 bits are GFCI and only the remaining 12 bits are the VPI. It matters because the meaning of pxmAtmVcCrossConnectHighVpi depends on this address type, so an admin must know it to correctly interpret the VPI value. A cross-connect terminating on a UNI trunk versus an NNI trunk on the high side would have its VPI field decoded differently even if the numeric value looked the same.
