This read-write integer sets the egress queue depth, in bytes, above which outbound cells become discard-eligible, with a range up to 0x1fffff bytes on FRSM-VHS cards and 0xffff bytes on other cards; it is not supported on FRSM12. It gives an administrator a way to start shedding lower-priority egress traffic before the hard egressQDepth drop limit is reached. For example, an engineer would keep egressQDEThresh below egressQDepth on the same port so that excess frames get DE-tagged for possible downstream discard well before the queue actually overflows.
