What is xmtStatusInquiry?
This counter counts the number of LMI Status Inquiry messages transmitted by the port. An administrator watches it to confirm the switch itself is actively polling the attached device for status, which is expected behavior on the network side of certain LMI configurations. For example, an engineer verifying which end of a link is responsible for polling would check whether this counter or rcvStatusInquiry is the one incrementing.
