Description: The default value is 2400 cir defines committed information rate cir is in bits per second Maximum value for cir for an E1 card is 2048000 and for a T1 card is 1536000. cir has to be less than or equal to the port speed. Maximum value for cir for an E3 card is 34368000, for a T3 card is 44736000m, and for HSSI it is 52000000. Note that for FRSM-2CT3 card, the peak value of permissible CIR is 1536000. Maximum value for FRSM-HS2B-12IN1 is 10240000 Any value from 1 to 2399 will be rounded off to 2400. For FRSM12 Card: The range is 0-44736000 bps for T3, and The range is 0-34368000 bps for E3. cir can be 0 only for chanServType of uBR.

What is cir?

This read-write integer defines the Committed Information Rate in bits per second, defaulting to 2400 and bounded by port type: up to 2,048,000 bps on an E1 card, 1,536,000 bps on a T1 card, 34,368,000 bps on an E3 card, 44,736,000 bps on a T3 card, and 52,000,000 bps on HSSI, with a special peak of 1,536,000 bps on the FRSM-2CT3 card and 10,240,000 bps on the FRSM-HS2B-12IN1 card, always capped at the port speed. An administrator sets cir to guarantee a connection's baseline committed bandwidth, sizing it according to which physical card type the connection rides on. For example, provisioning a PVC on a T1 card, an engineer could not configure cir above 1,536,000 bps even though the same value would be legal on an E3 card supporting rates up to 34,368,000 bps.
