Description: This variable indicates the transmit state of the VC (channel) on the ATM side 1 - Not sending any state 2 - Sending AIS OAM state 3 - Sending FERF OAM state
What is xmtATMState?
This read-only enumeration (notSending(1), sendingAIS(2), sendingFERF(3)) reports the transmit OAM state of the channel on the ATM side: notSending means no OAM alarm state is being sent, sendingAIS means an Alarm Indication Signal OAM cell is being sent, and sendingFERF means a Far End Receive Failure OAM cell is being sent. An administrator reads this to see what alarm condition, if any, this device is signaling downstream toward the ATM network for this channel. For example, xmtATMState showing sendingFERF indicates this device is actively signaling a far-end receive failure toward the network, distinct from sendingAIS which signals an upstream alarm condition instead.
