ausmIngrDiscardOption

Module: CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB::ausmIngrDiscardOption

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.5.2.2.1.1.1.45

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This variable specifies whether Frame based Discard is to be enabled or CLP Threshold is to be used for determining the criterion for dropping cells. FrameDiscard enables the EPD/PPD features

What is ausmIngrDiscardOption?

This read-write enumerated value chooses the ingress congestion-discard strategy for a channel - either CLP-threshold-based hysteresis discard (dropping individual cells based on the CLP threshold settings) or frame-based discard, which enables Early/Partial Packet Discard (EPD/PPD) to drop entire AAL5 frames rather than individual cells. Admins select frameDiscard for data traffic where discarding partial frames wastes bandwidth on unusable fragments, preferring to drop whole frames instead. For example, an admin managing a data-heavy VBR connection would likely choose frameDiscard so that under congestion, whole frames are dropped cleanly via EPD/PPD rather than scattering cell losses across many frames.
