Module: CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB::ausmChanState
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.5.2.2.2.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: This variable indicates the state of the VC (channel) failed(4) is added to distinguish between alarm (when the connection segment is not actually broken) and failed(when the segment is actually broken). This is applicable only to the PNNI environment.
What is ausmChanState?
This read-only enumerated value reports the operational state of a channel with a finer distinction than the basic common status field - separating an alarm condition (where the connection segment isn't actually broken) from a genuinely failed(4) state (where the segment is actually broken), a distinction the description notes applies only in a PNNI environment. Admins in PNNI-routed networks use this extra granularity to decide whether a channel merely needs monitoring (alarm) or requires active rerouting/repair (failed) since PNNI can act on a genuine break differently than a transient alarm. For example, a channel reporting failed in a PNNI environment might trigger the network's automatic rerouting logic, whereas one reporting alarm would not, since its underlying segment is still intact.
