parIfType

Module: CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-AXIPOP-MIB::parIfType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.130.2.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Specifies the type of interface - uni, nni or clock. uni(1) interface is for user ports and trunks may be either nni or uni. Default type of the interface is uni(1) and it can be configured to nni(2) provided there are no connections on the port. Type of interface can be changed from nni(2) to uni(1) if the trunk is not added. clock type interface is one which is used derive the clock.

What is parIfType?

This read-write setting classifies this interface's role for the routing or AutoRoute layer as a user port, routing trunk, feeder trunk, clock port, or virtual trunk, defaulting to user port, uni-style, and only changeable to a trunk type when there are no active connections on the port. It governs how PAR treats the interface for routing purposes, and the description notes the change is blocked while connections exist, protecting live traffic from a disruptive reclassification. An admin repurposing a customer-facing port into an inter-node trunk must first ensure no connections remain on it before changing parIfType from userport to routingtrunk.
