Monitoring Across Distributed Networks
Monitoring geographically dispersed networks presents a significant challenge. Direct access to network resources is often required for comprehensive monitoring, but this can compromise network security. A secure alternative involves utilizing monitoring agents. The Remote Network Agent (RNA) within IPNetwork Monitor is a software application designed for installation on a Windows server or workstation residing within the remote network. This agent empowers you to centrally monitor servers (hosts) across numerous distinct networks. RNA supports all monitor types available in IPNetwork Monitor, including SNMP, WMI, HTTP, Oracle, PING, and many more. RNA receives instructions from the central IPNetwork Monitor installation, assesses the availability and performance of designated resources, and transmits the results back. Data transmission between IPNetwork Monitor and the Remote Network Agent is secured using SSL encryption. The initial data exchange is further protected by a Connection ID key. To align with your organization’s security protocols, we offer both active and passive agents. Active agents initiate connections with the central monitoring server, eliminating the need to open inbound ports on the agent machine. Passive agents are employed when enhanced security for the central monitoring server is paramount.
