Description: The default is disable. This variable enables or disables the remote loopback for each channel. When you enable this option on a connection (channel) then all the cells that are coming from the network side would be looped back toward the network and all the frames coming from the user side would be dropped. This channel remote loopback has nothing to do with the chanTestType option, each one does a different function. For example, the channel remote loopback is used for looping the data toward the network and if this connection is terminated on an IPX then they can put a test equipment and measure some of the characteristics of the network. 1 = enable 2 = disable

What is chanLocRmtLpbkState?

This read-write enumeration (enable/disable, default disable) turns on a per-channel remote loopback, under which cells arriving from the network side are looped straight back toward the network while frames arriving from the user side are dropped. An administrator enables it to isolate whether a fault lies on the network side or the user side of a connection, since it deliberately blocks user traffic while mirroring network-side cells back out. For example, a technician diagnosing a suspected line problem toward the network would enable chanLocRmtLpbkState on the affected channel and watch whether looped cells return cleanly, distinct from using chanTestType, which performs its own separate continuity/delay test.
