This read-only Counter tallies the number of DE-marked (Discard Eligible) frames received on the connection's ingress side. An administrator tracks this to see how much of the incoming traffic already arrived pre-marked as expendable by the sending network, which is a leading indicator of congestion upstream. For example, a sudden rise in rcvFramesDE on a channel, without a corresponding rise in rcvFramesDiscard, would suggest the far end is marking more traffic DE even though this switch isn't yet discarding it.
