Category: Cisco Devices, Telephony and VoIP, Vendor: Cisco Devices

Description: Manages Cisco Communications Manager Express (CME) telephony service and IP phone configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CME-MIB?

CME-MIB is a Cisco MIB associated with Cisco Communications Manager Express (CME), a router-hosted IP telephony service, though its sample objects here reflect Smart Call Home / support-integration configuration (serviceAdvisor, serviceSupportCenter, contactInformation, httpProxyConfig, callHomeExclusionEvents) rather than call-processing data. It exposes configuration data for how the device registers with Cisco's support/diagnostics services -- which service advisor and support center to use, administrative contact details, and outbound HTTP proxy settings for reaching Cisco's backend. Its monitoring relevance is on the software/service-status side: httpProxyConfig determines whether the device can actually reach Cisco's Call-Home infrastructure to deliver automated fault diagnostics, and callHomeExclusionEvents controls which event types are suppressed from automatic support notifications, directly shaping what fault information gets reported. It is closely tied to Cisco's broader Smart Call Home framework (alongside MIBs such as CISCO-CALLHOME-MIB) and to Cisco IOS voice/CME feature configuration generally. It is deployed on Cisco CME-capable routers/gateways in small-to-midsize branch office telephony deployments, where CME-MIB SNMP monitoring confirms automated vendor support notifications are correctly configured.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CME-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Communications Manager Express (CME) router/gateway
  • Cisco IOS voice-enabled router

Monitoring Examples

An admin would check httpProxyConfig to confirm the CME router can reach Cisco's Smart Call Home backend through the corporate proxy, since a misconfigured proxy would silently prevent automated diagnostic reports from being delivered. serviceAdvisor and serviceSupportCenter identify which Cisco support service the device is registered with, and contactInformation holds the registered administrative contact used in any generated support case. callHomeExclusionEvents lets the admin suppress specific noisy event types from generating automatic Call-Home reports, which would otherwise flood the support channel.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Call-Home/service-advisor registration configuration
  • support center assignment
  • administrative contact information
  • HTTP proxy configuration for diagnostics reporting
  • excluded call-home event types
