Module: CME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CME-MIB::bladeManagementCardVpdHardwareRevisionString

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.2.21.4.8.1.17

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: Blade management card VPD hardware revision in string format. For consistent results, view as a table and not as individual entries. If a hardware revision is programmed in the OEM VPD area for this component, then this MIB object should be used.

What is bladeManagementCardVpdHardwareRevisionString?

This OCTET STRING gives the hardware revision of the blade's own local management/service-processor card written out as text, and the MIB says it should be used instead of the plain-integer HardwareRevision object whenever the OEM VPD area has this string programmed. An admin relies on the string form to avoid ambiguity, since a numeric revision code alone can't capture vendor-specific revision letters or suffixes. For example, bladeManagementCardVpdHardwareRevisionString shows the full text revision of a blade's service-processor card when the plain-integer HardwareRevision value alone doesn't distinguish a vendor-specific revision letter.
