Module: CME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CME-MIB::chassisFansInstalled

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.22.4.33

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: The chassis fans that are installed on the chassis. They are listed as a bitmap. The bitmap is a string containing a list of 1's and 0's that is as long as the number of supported. If it is installed in a bay, a 1 is present in the string in the position representing the bay ID as read from left to right. For example, if it is installed in bay 1, and 2 are supported, the string would look like '10'.

What is chassisFansInstalled?

This read-only bitmap string reports which chassis cooling fan bays are currently occupied, with each bit position (read left to right) representing one fan bay and a '1' marking an installed fan. Admins compare this against chassisNoOfChassisFansSupported to spot missing fans that could affect cooling redundancy. For example, if fan bay 1 of 2 supported fans is installed, this object returns a bitmap with a 1 in the first position and a 0 in the second, warning an admin one fan slot is empty.
