An administrator chooses ipswap when external tools should always reach the active MM at one fixed IP regardless of which physical module is active, or ipnoswap when each physical module should keep its own identity. For example, an admin sets this to ipswap(2) so monitoring tools continue polling the same IP address after the standby MM takes over as active.
