mmSshClientAuthPubKeyFingerprint

Module: CME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CME-MIB::mmSshClientAuthPubKeyFingerprint

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.4.1.6.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: The RSA fingerprint of the SSH public key represented by this entry. This value can be used with the SSH client to verify, on the initial connection, that the Secure Shell server responding to the request is the server running on the managed entity. This is the fingerprint of the operational host key pair. If the key pair represented by this entry is not operational then sixteen null octets must be returned.

What is mmSshClientAuthPubKeyFingerprint?

This read-only octet string reports the RSA fingerprint of the operational host key pair represented by this SSH client public key entry (returned as sixteen null octets if the key pair isn't operational), which can be checked against the client to confirm the SSH server responding is genuinely the managed device. An admin gives this fingerprint to end users so they can verify, on first connection, that they're really talking to this MM and not a spoofed host. For example, a user's SSH client warning about an unrecognized host key can be resolved by comparing it to this fingerprint value pulled from the MIB.
