Description: Each component may have one or more MAC address VPD values associated with it, and this index object identifies the particular instance.
What is componentMACAddressIndex?
This object identifies the particular instance among the one or more MAC address VPD values a given component may expose, since some hardware reports multiple MAC addresses. An admin cataloging every network interface's MAC address on a component with several ports uses this index to keep each componentMACAddress entry distinct. For example, a switch module reporting three separate MAC addresses would use index values 1, 2, and 3 to distinguish each one in the table.
