Module: CME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CME-MIB::chassisBayDevicesInstalled

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.22.4.25

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: The bay devices that are installed in the chassis. The bay devices are listed as a bitmap. The bitmap is a string containing a list of 1's and 0's that is as long as the number of bay devices supported. For devices that fill multiple bays, the bit mask will indicate the primary/lowest bay as occupied. If a device is installed in a bay, a 1 is present in the string in the position representing the bay ID as read from left to right. For example, if devices are installed in bays 1, 5, and 13, and 14 bays are supported, the string would look like '10001000000010'.

What is chassisBayDevicesInstalled?

This read-only bitmap string reports which bays in the chassis currently have a device installed, with each character position representing one bay and a '1' meaning occupied; multi-bay devices are marked as installed only at their lowest/primary bay. Admins read this bitmap to quickly see chassis occupancy without physically inspecting each bay. For example, a bitmap like '110000000000' on a 12-bay chassis tells an admin only the first two bays currently hold devices.
