This OCTET STRING is MAC address 4 of the group of burned-in MAC addresses that expansion (daughter) card 5 plugged into the blade carries in VPD, one of several addresses reserved for its network ports. An admin pulls this address ahead of time to pre-provision DHCP reservations or 802.1X port security for that specific physical port before the card is ever powered up. For example, if daughter card 5 exposes eight ports in its VPD pool, bladeDaughterCard5MACAddress4Vpd holds the address for port 4 of that specific card, not the address for the same port number on any other daughter card in the blade.
