extEthernetInterfaceIPv6Enabled

Module: CME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CME-MIB::extEthernetInterfaceIPv6Enabled

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.4.9.1.4.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The current IPv6 enabled or disabled state of this MM.

NOTE: If IPv6 address(es) have been configured for one or more interfaces/protocols/services on this MM, when you update the firmware to a level which does not support IPv6, all IPv6 connectivity will be lost, and services/interfaces for which an IPv6 address was configured may not function properly. You will be required to reconfigure these services/interfaces.

What is extEthernetInterfaceIPv6Enabled?

This read-write object reports and controls whether IPv6 is enabled on this management module, with the MIB warning that if a firmware downgrade removes IPv6 support while IPv6 addresses are configured, all IPv6 connectivity and dependent services will be lost. An administrator enables this to turn on IPv6 networking for the MM, but must be cautious before downgrading firmware afterward. For example, an admin double-checks this setting is enabled(1) before assigning static IPv6 addresses elsewhere in the table, knowing a later firmware downgrade could otherwise strand those settings.
