Description: The global identifier (GLID) of this component. This ID is a unique identifier for the CMM chassis (midplane), set by the manufacturer. This ID and the associated inventory is passed back to IBM via the Electronic Service Agent and the Call Home feature. This ID and the accompanying chassis inventory will be stored and retained resulting in a configuration/change history file of the inventory for a chassis associated with a particular GLID. This ID can be used by a customer to identify and categorize all the content that resides within a chassis, much like a physical serial number is associated with a single box server.
What is componentInventoryGlobalID?
This object holds the Global Identifier (GLID), a unique ID for the CMM chassis midplane set by the manufacturer and used to tie inventory data to IBM's Electronic Service Agent and Call Home feature for configuration/change tracking. An administrator relies on this GLID as the anchor identity IBM's remote support systems use to recognize this specific chassis across service events. For example, when Call Home automatically reports a chassis fault to IBM support, this GLID is what lets IBM match the report to the correct physical midplane's service history.
