What Is RFC-1215?
RFC-1215 is a vendor-neutral IETF standards document that defines the TRAP-TYPE macro, the legacy SMIv1 syntax used to declare unsolicited SNMPv1 notification (trap) definitions in older MIB modules. It contains no managed objects and exposes no interface, environment, performance, or configuration data of its own. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status because it is a macro/grammar definition consumed by MIB compilers, not an instrumented module; its relevance to fault monitoring is indirect, in that it enables other legacy MIBs to define the trap notifications, such as link-down or cold-start style events, that alert on device faults. Many older SMIv1-era vendor and enterprise MIBs depend on the TRAP-TYPE macro this document defines in order to declare their notification objects correctly. It is used only at MIB-compilation time and is never itself deployed or polled on a live device, and the RFC-1215 RFC itself is rarely read by operators directly, surfacing only indirectly through the legacy trap definitions it enables.

Monitoring Examples
This module supplies only the TRAP-TYPE macro grammar used to author SNMPv1 trap definitions in other legacy MIBs, so it has no instrumented objects of its own and sample_objects is empty. There is no monitoring scenario to describe directly; RFC-1215's relevance surfaces only when a dependent legacy MIB fires a trap defined using this macro.
