What is smManufacturingID?
This read-only octet string reports the VPD (vital product data) manufacturing ID string for a switch module's hardware. It gives an admin a hardware-level identifier useful for asset tracking or when opening a support case that requires the exact manufacturing/part identity of a specific switch module. An admin filing a warranty claim for a suspect switch module would include the value from smManufacturingID to help the vendor identify the exact unit.
