smIPv6StaticAddress

Module: CME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CME-MIB::smIPv6StaticAddress

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.22.3.2.1.4.3.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InetAddressIPv6

Access: read-write

Description: The assigned IPv6 address.

NOTE: If changing with smIPv6StaticAddressPrefixLen and/or smIPv6StaticAddressDefaultRoute sending the update as a single SET command(in one PDU) will minimize the potential downtime of the target switch.

NOTE: Sets on this object can take a few seconds. You may need to update your SNMP timeout when modifying this setting.

What is smIPv6StaticAddress?

This read-write object lets an admin manually assign a static IPv6 address to the switch module, overriding DHCPv6 or auto-configuration. Because a bad address change can disrupt management connectivity, the description recommends bundling it with the prefix length and default route in a single SNMP SET and allowing extra time for the change to apply. For example, an admin migrating a module to a new IPv6 numbering plan sets this object together with smIPv6StaticAddressPrefixLen and smIPv6StaticAddressDefaultRoute in one PDU to avoid a mid-change outage.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.22.3.2.1.4.3.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CME-MIB::smIPv6StaticAddress

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.22.3.2.1.4.3.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CME-MIB::smIPv6StaticAddress.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.22.3.2.1.4.3.1.2.1 s <value>
