standbyExtEthernetInterfaceLAA

Module: CME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CME-MIB::standbyExtEthernetInterfaceLAA

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.4.9.1.3.7

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: Specifies the locally administered MAC address. The locally administered address must be a hexadecimal value between 000000000000 - FFFFFFFFFFFF. This value must be in the form XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX where 'X' is a number between 0 - 9 and A - F. This MM subsystem does not allow use of a multicast address. A multicast address has the least significant bit of the first byte set to a 1. The first byte must, therefore, be an even number.

NOTE: This MIB object is only applicable to systems with a standby MM. NOTE: Although the locally administered MAC address can be assigned the same value for the primary and backup MM, it is not recommended.

What is standbyExtEthernetInterfaceLAA?

This read-write object holds the locally administered MAC address (LAA) for the standby management module's ethernet interface, formatted as XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX and restricted from multicast values, applicable only to chassis with an installed standby MM. An administrator sets a specific LAA here when the network requires a predictable, non-factory MAC address on the standby MM, for example to match a DHCP reservation. For example, an admin assigns a specific LAA value here so the standby MM always receives the same DHCP-reserved IP address regardless of which physical unit is installed.
