restartBladeToSMSBootMenu

Module: CME-MIB

OID (symbolic): CME-MIB::restartBladeToSMSBootMenu

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.22.1.6.1.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Restart a blade to SMS boot menu. This option is not supported on all blades, and at the time of this MIB definition was only supported on POWER blades.

This object is deprecated and please use the bladePowerEnableSMSBootMenu object.

NOTE: Value returned for the GET command is meaningless for this MIB object.

What is restartBladeToSMSBootMenu?

This writable execute-only object restarts a blade directly into its SMS boot menu when set to execute(1), a feature only supported on certain blades (originally POWER blades) and explicitly marked deprecated in favor of bladePowerEnableSMSBootMenu; the GET value is meaningless. An admin needing to access a POWER blade's firmware-level boot menu remotely, for example to change boot order before an OS reinstall, would trigger this, though the MIB itself now recommends using the newer object instead. Because it's deprecated, an admin building new automation should call bladePowerEnableSMSBootMenu rather than continuing to rely on restartBladeToSMSBootMenu.
