What Is CPQIDA-MIB?

CPQIDA-MIB, distributed as the file cpqida.mib, is Compaq's (now HPE's) Intelligent Drive Array MIB, part of the Insight Manager agent suite for ProLiant servers, used to manage Smart Array/Intelligent Drive Array RAID controllers. It exposes storage-subsystem configuration and status data covering RAID controllers, logical drives, physical drives, and the array accelerator (battery-backed write cache) that sits in front of the disk array. It is fundamentally a hardware-status monitoring MIB for server storage: it is used to detect failed or degraded physical drives, a logical drive that has dropped out of its RAID redundancy, a rebuild in progress, or an array accelerator/cache battery in a failed or low-charge state, any of which threaten data availability. It is a vendor-specific extension that sits alongside Compaq/HPE's broader Insight Manager Agent (CPQHOST, CPQHLTH, etc.) MIB family rather than a standalone standard. It is deployed on Compaq/HPE ProLiant servers equipped with Smart Array RAID controllers, polled by storage or systems management tools for proactive disk failure detection.
