What Is CPQHOST-MIB?
CPQHOST-MIB is a Compaq (now HPE) host operating system management MIB used to monitor and manage host-level parameters on Compaq/HPE ProLiant servers running the Insight Management Agents. It covers host OS-level data such as client/host identification and SNMP trap delivery destination configuration, complementing the hardware-focused Compaq/HPE Insight MIBs that report physical component health. Its role in monitoring is centered on software/OS-level status: confirming the correct host identity is reported and that trap destinations are properly configured so fault notifications from the broader Compaq agent suite actually reach the management station. It is designed to be used alongside the rest of the Compaq/HPE Insight Manager MIB family, on which it depends for full server health visibility, and cpqhost-mib is typically loaded into the MIB compiler right beside those companion modules. It's typically deployed on Compaq/HPE ProLiant servers running Insight Management Agent software in Windows or Linux environments.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CPQHOST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- host/client identification
- SNMP trap destination configuration
- host agent status
Supported Devices
- HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 (2023) — current 2U 2P rack server, 4th/5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable, PCIe Gen5
- HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen11 (2023) — current tower server, up to 64 cores, 8TB DDR5
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, so a concrete polling example cannot be grounded in specific object names; in practice, administrators would use its host identification and trap-destination configuration objects to verify Insight Agent trap notifications are correctly routed to the management station, while actual hardware status such as temperature, power supply, or disk health would be cross-referenced via the companion Compaq Insight MIBs rather than CPQHOST-MIB itself.
