Description: Seek Errors (High).

The phyDrvHSeekErrs and the phyDrvSeekErrs together shows the total number of times that the physical disk drive detected a seek error during the reference hours (phyDrvRefHours).

The actual number of seek errors equals the phyDrvHSeekErrs times 2^32 plus the phyDrvWriteSeekErrs.

Over time, a disk drive usually produces these errors. If you notice a rapid increase in the value shown for Seek Errors, this physical drive may be failing.

The value increases every time the physical drive produces another error. Only an unusually rapid increase in these errors indicates a problem. If you suspect that a problem exists, schedule server down time to run diagnostics.

What is cpqDaPhyDrvHSeekErrs?

cpqDaPhyDrvHSeekErrs supplies the high-order 32 bits of the total seek-error count for a physical drive, to be combined with cpqDaPhyDrvSeekErrs (multiplied by 2^32) for the full total during the reference-hours window. Seek errors indicate the drive's actuator arm is failing to land on the requested track, so a rapid rise here over time suggests a mechanical problem with that disk. For example, on a drive that has been in service for years, an admin would expect this high-order counter to only increment after billions of seek errors have accumulated in the low-order counter.
