cpqDaLogDrvAvailSpares

Module: CPQIDA-MIB

OID (symbolic): CPQIDA-MIB::cpqDaLogDrvAvailSpares

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.3.1.1.8

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-only

Description: Drive Array Logical Drive Available Spares.

This indicates if this logical drive has one or more spares designated for it that are not currently in use by another drive. Each octet present will be a physical drive ID that is an available spare for this logical drive. These are the same ID's which can be used as indices into the physical drive table. An octet string of length zero indicates that there are no available spares for this logical drive. For array controllers that support a larger number of drives, the Drive Array Logical Drive Available Spare Extended Attachment Table should be used.

What is cpqDaLogDrvAvailSpares?

This OCTET STRING lists the physical drive IDs of spares designated for this logical drive that are not currently in use elsewhere, with each octet being a physical drive table index, and a zero-length string meaning no available spares exist. An admin checks this to confirm a hot spare is actually ready to kick in before a drive failure occurs. For example, an empty cpqDaLogDrvAvailSpares value on a critical volume prompts the admin to assign a hot spare before a physical drive failure leaves the array with no automatic recovery option.
