Module: CPQIDA-MIB

OID (symbolic): CPQIDA-MIB::cpqDaPhyDrvHardWriteErrs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5.1.1.18

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: Hard Write Errors.

This shows the number of write errors that could not be recovered by a physical drive during the reference time (phyDrvRefTime).

Over time a disk drive may detect these errors. If you notice an increase in the value shown for Hard Write Errors or Recovered Write Errors, a problem may exist with the drive. The value increases every time the physical drive detects another error. On average, these errors should occur less frequently than read errors. If you see an increase in these errors, schedule server down time to run diagnostics to verify that a problem exists.

What is cpqDaPhyDrvHardWriteErrs?

cpqDaPhyDrvHardWriteErrs reports the number of write errors on a physical drive that could not be recovered during the reference time window. Because a rising value here means data the controller tried to commit to the platter failed outright, it is one of the strongest indicators that a specific drive in the array is failing. For example, if this counter starts increasing on one disk while its neighbors in the same logical drive stay at zero, that isolates which physical drive needs to be pulled and replaced.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5.1.1.18
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CPQIDA-MIB::cpqDaPhyDrvHardWriteErrs

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.5.1.1.18.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CPQIDA-MIB::cpqDaPhyDrvHardWriteErrs.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> cpqDaPhyDrvHardWriteErrs.1
