Description: Spare Status.

This shows the status of the on-line spare drive.

The following values are valid for the spare status:

Failed (3) The on-line spare has failed and is no longer available for use.

Inactive (4) The monitored system has an on-line spare configured, but is not currently in use.

Building (5) A physical drive has failed. Automatic Data Recovery is in progress to recover data to the on-line spare.

Active (6) A physical drive has failed. Automatic Data Recovery is complete. The system is using the on-line spare as a replacement for the failed drive.

What is cpqDaSpareStatus?

This enumerated value shows the status of the on-line spare drive, such as Failed, Inactive (configured but not currently in use), or Building (actively performing automatic data recovery). An admin checks this to know at a glance whether a hot spare is standing by, actively rebuilding data, or has itself failed. For example, cpqDaSpareStatus reporting Building tells the admin a physical drive failure has occurred and this spare is currently taking over, so a rebuild is in progress rather than complete.
