Category: Fibre Channel and Storage, Vendor: HP/HPE
Description: Monitors Compaq/HP iSCSI host bus adapter configuration and session state on ProLiant servers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CPQISCSI-MIB?
CPQISCSI-MIB is a Compaq/HP vendor MIB for monitoring iSCSI host bus adapter (HBA) configuration and session state on Compaq/HP ProLiant servers, covering software-initiator or hardware iSCSI HBA connectivity to networked storage. It exposes data about iSCSI adapter configuration, target discovery, and active session status between the server's initiator and remote iSCSI storage targets. Its monitoring purpose centers on storage connectivity health: whether an iSCSI session to a target is established or has dropped, and adapter-level configuration such as target IP/IQN mappings, which reveals connectivity problems between a server and its networked storage before applications experience I/O errors. It is closely tied to the broader Compaq/HP Insight Management Agent MIB family (e.g. CPQHOST/CPQSCSI-style MIBs) for correlated host and storage context. It is deployed on ProLiant servers that boot from or attach to iSCSI SANs. Engineers can download the CPQISCSI-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CPQISCSI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Compaq/HP ProLiant server with iSCSI HBA
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll iSCSI session status objects to confirm the HBA maintains an active connection to its configured target, and check adapter configuration objects to verify IQN and target address settings remain correct after a network change. A session shown as disconnected or reconnecting repeatedly would indicate a network path or target-side problem affecting storage availability. No sample objects were provided for this MIB, so exact object names cannot be cited; this reflects the general iSCSI session/configuration monitoring pattern typical of Compaq/HP storage MIBs.
What Can Be Monitored
- iSCSI session status
- target connectivity state
- adapter/IQN configuration
- session reconnect events
