Category: Network Management Infrastructure, System Management

Description: Manages TMU device configuration, hardware status, and operational parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TMU-MIB?

TMU-MIB is a legacy proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 22, 'fib'/TMU prefix suggests a terminal/management-unit board) reporting board firmware inventory and fault-handling state. Its objects cover an error-severity event counter, ARP age time, RARP-update count, main software/EEPROM version and a defective-EEPROM flag, last system ifIndex, token-ring/SCC driver versions, SNMP-user version, display-debug mode, EEPROM/runtime fault-format settings, functionality/utilities version, wrap-in/wrap-out loopback controls, a load-EE-defaults action, a don't-reset-on-fatal flag, read/write connection indicators, real-time clock, and an interface table. As a hardware/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm firmware versions and fault-handling configuration on this legacy management-unit board. It is deployed on legacy networking equipment implementing this private MIB (enterprise OID 22). Engineers can download the TMU-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TMU-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Legacy networking equipment (enterprise OID 22)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks fibTmuMainSwVersion and fibTmuNumEventErrs to confirm firmware version and recent error-severity event count on this legacy management-unit board.

What Can Be Monitored

  • firmware version and error-event counters
