Description: Manages Nokia carrier Ethernet alarm and trap clearing operations.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TN-CLEAR-MIB?

TN-CLEAR-MIB is a Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent) module for the Nokia 7x50 service router/switch family that manages and provisions 'clear' operations - SNMP-triggered actions to reset counters, alarms, or operational state on the system. It exposes a table of clearable items with a name, parameters, an action trigger, the last time each was cleared, and the result/error text of the last clear operation, plus a couple of general-purpose scalar objects. Its monitoring value is centered on software/operational-action status: confirming whether a requested clear action (e.g. clearing alarm counters or statistics) succeeded, when it last ran, and any error encountered, rather than reporting hardware sensors. It is a Nokia 7x50-specific proprietary MIB, tightly coupled to that platform's internal object/alarm model rather than a standard IETF MIB. It is typically deployed on Nokia 7x50 carrier Ethernet/IP routers where operators or automation scripts trigger clear operations via SNMP and need to confirm they completed successfully. Engineers can download the TN-CLEAR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-CLEAR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia 1830 PSS (Photonic Service Switch) optical transport platform

Monitoring Examples

An operator or automation script would set tnClearAction on a row identified by tnClearIndex/tnClearName in tnClearTable/tnClearEntry to trigger a clear operation, then poll tnClearResult and tnClearLastClearedTime to confirm it completed, checking tnClearErrorText if tnClearResult indicates failure. A tnClearResult showing an error alongside stale tnClearLastClearedTime timestamps would reveal that a scheduled clear job (e.g. clearing alarm counters) is failing silently. This lets operators verify that automated maintenance actions on the 7x50 are actually taking effect.

What Can Be Monitored

  • clear action trigger status
  • last cleared timestamp
  • clear operation result
  • clear operation error text
  • clearable item name/parameters
