Description: Configures IP tunnel interfaces including GRE and IPsec tunnel parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-TUNNEL-MIB?
RADLAN-TUNNEL-MIB is a vendor-specific private MIB from RADLAN/Marvell for configuring IP tunnel interfaces on switch/router platforms, with particular emphasis on ISATAP (Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol) tunneling for IPv6-over-IPv4 transition. It exposes a general tunnel interface table (rlTunnelIfTable/Entry with rlTunnelIfEncapsMethod) alongside detailed ISATAP-specific configuration objects covering router discovery timing (rlTunnelIsatapRobustness, rlTunnelIsatapQueryInterval, rlTunnelIsatapRSInterval), DNS-based ISATAP router resolution (rlTunnelIsatapDnsHostName, rlTunnelIsatapRouterAddress), and local addressing (rlTunnelIsatapLocalIPv4Address). Its monitoring role is protocol/software status: confirming a tunnel interface is up with the correct encapsulation method, and that ISATAP router discovery is succeeding rather than repeatedly timing out. It depends conceptually on standard IPv6 transition mechanisms (ISATAP, RFC 5214) though implemented via a vendor-proprietary MIB. It is typically deployed on Marvell/RADLAN-based routers or Layer 3 switches bridging IPv4 and IPv6 networks during a transition period, with the RADLAN-TUNNEL-MIB MIB providing the tunnel and ISATAP objects those deployments monitor.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-TUNNEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Marvell (formerly RADLAN) routers/Layer 3 switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check rlTunnelIsatapStatus and rlTunnelIsatapRouterAddress to confirm the device has successfully discovered its ISATAP router, and review rlTunnelIfTable's rlTunnelIfEncapsMethod to verify the tunnel interface is using the expected encapsulation. A rlTunnelIsatapRouterAddress that never populates would indicate a DNS resolution or query-interval problem preventing ISATAP router discovery.
What Can Be Monitored
- ISATAP tunnel status
- ISATAP router discovery address
- tunnel interface encapsulation method
- ISATAP query/robustness interval settings

RFC description
Vendor-specific MIB for Radlan Networks (acquired by Meru) tunnel management; manages tunnel configuration, status, and performance for VPN and encapsulation protocols.
Start monitoring Marvell (formerly RADLAN) routers/Layer 3 switches (IP tunnel/ISATAP) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
