Description: Manages Cisco Small Business policy-map and class-map configuration for QoS and traffic enforcement.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCOSB-POLICY-MIB?
CISCOSB-POLICY-MIB is a Cisco Small Business private MIB (ORGANIZATION "Cisco Small Business", rooted under the switch001 enterprise branch) that models generic traffic-policy configuration on CISCOSB switches, functionally equivalent to CLI-based QoS class-map/policy-map configuration even though its object naming (inherited from a shared switch-silicon MIB base) uses "rlPolicy" rather than Cisco's usual class-map terminology. It defines classifier tables (rlPolicyClassifierTable, indexed by classifier type/list/sub-list) that match traffic using flow-classification byte offsets (rlPolicyFlowClassificationOffsetsTable) and OMPC (offset-match-pattern-condition) rules (rlPolicyOMPCTable), alongside metering and forwarding-action objects referenced elsewhere in the module. This lets an operator see exactly how incoming traffic is being classified and what marking/policing action a policy applies, which is essential for diagnosing QoS misclassification or unexpected DSCP remarking on a switch. It depends on the broader CISCOSB QoS/statistics MIB family (e.g., companion Dell/Cisco "rlQos"-style MIBs) for interface-level policy attachment and counters. It is deployed on Cisco Small Business managed switches used in SMB network environments; administrators can download the CISCOSB-POLICY-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for that purpose.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-POLICY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Small Business managed switches (CISCOSB series)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls rlPolicyClassifierTable to review the offset-based match criteria (via rlPolicyOMPCTable entries) defining a traffic class, and checks the associated action objects to confirm DSCP remarking or metering is applied as expected; a classifier row with an unexpected rlPolicyOMPCPattern or missing rlPolicyOMPCStatus of active would explain why certain traffic isn't receiving its intended QoS treatment.
What Can Be Monitored
- traffic classifier table entries
- offset-based match pattern conditions (OMPC)
- flow classification offset groups
- classifier row/entry status
- policy action assignment
