rlPolicyActionMinThreshold

Module: CISCOSB-POLICY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-POLICY-MIB::rlPolicyActionMinThreshold

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.59.5.2.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The min-threshold is the queue depth that a random drop process will seek to manage the queue's depth to. This object is in the action table rather than the queue table because Differentiated Services PHBs, such as the Assured Service, permit differently classified traffic to have different drop parameters even though they occupy the same queue.

What is rlPolicyActionMinThreshold?

This read-write object sets the queue depth, the min-threshold, at which a random-drop process begins actively managing (dropping) packets to control queue growth, and the description notes this lives in the action table rather than the queue table specifically so that differently classified traffic sharing the same physical queue can have different drop parameters. An admin tunes this to make the random-drop mechanism start earlier or later for a given traffic class sharing a queue with others. For example, an admin wanting a lower-priority traffic class to start experiencing random drops sooner than a higher-priority class in the same physical queue would set a lower min-threshold for that class's action entry.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.59.5.2.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCOSB-POLICY-MIB::rlPolicyActionMinThreshold

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.59.5.2.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCOSB-POLICY-MIB::rlPolicyActionMinThreshold.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.59.5.2.1.4.1 i <value>
