Description: Manages Spatial Reuse Protocol (SRP/DPT) ring interfaces and topology discovery on Cisco dynamic packet transport rings.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-SRP-MIB?
CISCO-SRP-MIB manages Spatial Reuse Protocol (SRP), also known as Dynamic Packet Transport (DPT), a Cisco ring-topology WAN technology, and belongs to Cisco's optical/ring-interface MIB family. It exposes MAC-layer identity data for SRP interfaces along with ring-level, host-level, and error counters describing traffic flow around the dual counter-rotating ring and any faults encountered. Its monitoring value is centered on interface/link performance and fault status rather than environmental hardware sensors: administrators track srpRingCounters and srpHostCounters to gauge ring traffic load and srpErrorsCounters to detect ring wraps, fiber cuts, or protocol errors, with traps under srpTrapsNotifications alerting to ring topology changes or failures. It builds on standard interface conventions (ifIndex/IF-MIB) to associate SRP counters with the underlying physical interface. It is deployed on Cisco DPT/SRP ring interface cards used in metro and long-haul optical ring networks. Engineers searching for cisco srp monitoring should note SRP here refers to Spatial Reuse Protocol/Dynamic Packet Transport, Cisco's ring-topology WAN technology, not Session Recording Protocol or other unrelated "SRP" acronyms.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-SRP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco DPT/SRP ring interface routers
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll srpRingCounters and srpHostCounters on an SRP interface identified by srpMAC to baseline normal ring traffic levels, then watch srpErrorsCounters for a spike indicating ring errors such as wrap events or corrupted frames. A trap fired from srpTrapsNotifications would immediately flag a ring topology change, such as a fiber cut causing the ring to wrap and reroute traffic the long way around.
What Can Be Monitored
- SRP interface MAC address
- ring traffic counters
- host traffic counters
- ring error counters
- ring topology change/failure notifications

If, for some reason, such as an adjustment in the system's time-of-day clock, the current interval exceeds the maximum value, the agent will return the maximum value. |
| I32 srpIfValidIntervals | 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.60.1.1.1.8 | Integer32 | read-only | The number of previous 15-minute measurement intervals for which data was collected.
