Module: CISCO-SRP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-SRP-MIB::srpHostIntRxErrorsGiantPackets

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.60.4.2.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: PerfIntervalCount64

Access: read-only

Description: The counter associated with the interval number of giant packets, received from the higher layer in a particular 15-minute interval in the past 24 hours.

What is srpHostIntRxErrorsGiantPackets?

This 64-bit counter tallies frames handed down from the router's own higher-layer stack that are larger than the maximum 9216-octet MTU the MIB defines as the 'giant' packet threshold, over one specific completed 15-minute bucket from the rolling 24-hour history. An oversized frame originating locally points at a misconfigured jumbo-MTU setting on this router's own interfaces or forwarding path, rather than at anything a neighboring ring node did, so the fix is local configuration rather than a ring-wide MTU negotiation. If an admin mistakenly enabled a 9500-byte jumbo MTU on this router's uplink without checking the SRP ring's own limit, this counter would start climbing as that router's own oversized frames get discarded before reaching the ring.
