This 64-bit counter tallies giant packets (larger than the 9216-octet maximum packet size) received from the Higher Layer path into this router's own stack, counted over one specific completed 15-minute bucket from the rolling 24-hour history. Because SRP has a hard upper bound on frame size, any packet exceeding it gets discarded here rather than forwarded, so a nonzero count is a direct sign that some device attached to (or transiting) the ring is sending oversized frames that violate the ring's MTU. If a video-surveillance encoder on the ring was just switched to send 9500-byte jumbo frames, this counter would start incrementing for every one of its frames.
